YellowScan, in partnership with VisionAir Production AB, has joined the launch of SeaDeep, a European Union co-funded initiative aimed at developing and demonstrating innovative solutions for a more sustainable blue economy.
Running from 2026 to 2029, the SeaDeep project convenes a consortium of 30 partners across 11 countries, representing research institutes, technology developers, aquaculture companies, fisheries stakeholders, and industry networks. The collaborative program is coordinated by the IVL Swedish Environmental Research Institute and centers on testing and validating emerging technologies directly within real production environments.
As part of the initiative, YellowScan is evaluating how its Navigator topo-bathymetric LiDAR system can assist in monitoring sea farms and algae cultivation facilities. The sensor maps coastal environments above and below the water surface simultaneously, enabling the generation of high-resolution 3D digital twins that provide detailed observations of farm infrastructure, seabed conditions, and ongoing environmental changes.
Regarding the deployment of the technology within the program, YellowScan stated, “We look forward to contributing to this ambitious project and demonstrating how advanced geospatial technologies can support a more efficient and sustainable future for aquaculture.”
