YellowScan has unveiled the new upgraded versions of the company’s Surveyor Ultra and Explorer LiDAR scanning solutions for UAVs (unmanned aerial vehicles). The new products will be showcased at the INTERGEO 2023 expo in Berlin.

The second iteration of YellowScan Explorer features a reduced weight, dropping from 2.3kg to 1.8kg and enabling compatibility with even more drone platforms. The unit can now be mounted on ground-based mobile mapping vehicles as well as UAVs. A new front-facing LCD screen keeps users informed about the system’s status, and an embedded global shutter camera has been added for colorization purposes.

Surveyor Ultra has dropped down from 1.32kg to 983g, and is now compatible with either an optional 20MP or 60MP single-camera module, as well as a 35MP dual-camera module. It also includes a new embedded global shutter camera as well as new LED icons on the side of the system for enhanced readability even in brightly-lit conditions.

Both units have additionally been upgraded with the Quanta Micro GNSS-aided inertial navigation solution from SBG Systems, delivering enhanced accuracy and performance.

In addition to these new upgraded LiDAR systems, YellowScan has also developed a free Android and iOS app that allows users to connect YellowScan systems via Bluetooth, review and adjust LiDAR settings, and operate the system remotely.

YellowScan will be demonstrating the company’s latest offering not only at INTERGEO but also at the YellowScan LiDAR Convention in Montpellier, in March 2024 – click here to find out more.
