Autonomous Underwater Vehicles for Inspection, Survey & Subsea Intelligence

BeeX is an innovative developer and operator of autonomous underwater vehicles that are designed to transform underwater operations at scale. Ideal for inspection, survey, intelligence, and search missions, the systems are designed to overcome the cost, manpower, and scalability limitations of tethered ROVs (remotely operated vehicles).

BeeX Autonomous Underwater Systems for Defense

The company provides a range of configurable models that can be provided directly and tailored to the unique mission requirements of defense customers. Commercial clients can benefit from a Robotics-as-a-Service (RaaS) model, with BeeX providing the vehicles, operators, deployment equipment, and reporting infrastructure for each project.

Autonomous Underwater Systems for Defense

BeeX supplies a range of underwater drones for naval and defense missions, offering fully untethered operations across large subsea areas and allowing forces to acquire and maintain seabed dominance. Powerful autonomy capabilities enable superior situational awareness with reduced operator fatigue, allowing you to concentrate on data interpretation and the needs of the mission.

BeeX Underwater Drones for Naval and Defense Missions

The AUVs can be deployed as coordinated multi-drone groups. A one-to-many operator-to-drone model expands coverage and removes the tether entanglement risk associated with conventional ROV operations.

Applications include:

Mine Countermeasures (MCM)

Mine Countermeasures (MCM)
Autonomously detect, classify, and neutralize sea mines and unexploded ordnance across seabeds and seabeds. An intuitive operator interface delivers real-time situational awareness, while untethered, swarm-capable autonomy lets multiple drones clear an area in parallel.

Critical Underwater Infrastructure (CUI)

Critical Underwater Infrastructure (CUI)
Autonomous drones continuously inspect critical underwater infrastructure. Operating untethered and in swarms, they patrol large infrastructure networks in parallel, flagging anomalies and potential threats faster than crewed inspection allows.

Clearance Diving
Rapid visual and sonar sweeps of ship hulls detect threats such as limpet mines, helping operators neutralize risks while keeping clearance divers out of harm’s way.

Search & Rescue
Rapidly-deployable AUVs provide real-time imagery to aid in locating personnel or wreckage, supporting rescue teams when time is of the essence.

Commercial Underwater Infrastructural Inspections

BeeX provides underwater inspection and surveys through a Robotics-as-a-Service (RaaS) model, enabling customers to benefit from high-accuracy results without needing to purchase or operate a vehicle fleet.

The traditional gold-standard marine survey approach relies on manually piloted work-class ROVs, large crews, and dedicated support vessels. Compared to this, the BeeX model can reduce project costs by up to 50 percent and CO2 emissions by 95 percent, enhancing productivity and sustainability. The powerful autonomy capabilities of BeeX’s drones ensures consistent data quality and accuracy that is independent of operator skill levels or water conditions.

Commercial inspection and survey use cases include:

Underwater Inspection
BeeX autonomous drones conduct detailed visual and sonar inspections of oil and gas platforms, offshore wind foundations and mooring systems, and nearshore infrastructure such as piles, underdecks, jetties, ports, and terminals.

Seabed Surveys
Visual, sonar, and bathymetric scanning enables detailed seabed surveys, including pipeline routes for oil and gas projects and subsea cable routes for offshore wind developments, with data delivered in WGS84-referenced industry-standard formats

Structural Mapping
BeeX AUVs provide data for generation of high-resolution millimeter-accurate 3D point-cloud visualizations of underwater structures and assets

NDT (Non-Destructive Testing)
BeeX supports FMD, EMAT, and ultrasonic NDT and thickness measurement, enabling close-proximity inspection and characterization of marine growth without damage to assets

Seabed Debris Search
Forward-looking sonar, cameras, and multibeam echosounders locate and map objects and hazards on the seafloor

Autonomous Underwater Vehicle Systems & Software

BeeX drones share versatile vessel-agnostic deployment capabilities across both defense and commercial operations. Options include hand launch, crane launch and recovery, and davit or lifting-bag transfer, allowing the fleet to operate from vessels of different sizes.

The AUV range features a wide range of advanced capabilities including onboard CPU and GPU computing, inertial navigation, and fiber-optic gyrocompasses. The vehicles can be equipped with a wide range of optional payloads, including:

  • Multibeam echosounders
  • Stereo cameras
  • Lasers
  • Magnetometers
  • Electric field sensors
  • USBL systems
  • Cathodic protection probes & NDT instruments
  • Cleaning tools & manipulators

SAMBAL Autonomous Mission & Data Intelligence Suite

Integrated autonomy, mission control and scalable inspection intelligence

SAMBAL is an all-in-one software suite for onboard autonomy, mission planning, data analysis and cloud-based reporting across the BeeX fleet. By integrating vehicle control with structured inspection data, it enables operators to manage missions and track asset condition through a single scalable ecosystem. The suite comprises three main components:

SAMBAL OS – Delivers onboard autonomy through adaptive station keeping, autonomous target tracking, multisensor perception fusion, 3D georeferenced data and failsafe protocols for loss of communications.

Sambal autonomy and mission planning

SAMBAL UI – Provides a unified interface for mission planning and real-time data review, supporting path following, lawnmower searches, target encirclement and the capture of anomaly snapshots.

SAMBAL Portal – Converts inspection recordings into structured, actionable asset intelligence. Every recording is georeferenced and time-stamped, synchronizing mission data with positioning information for seamless review and rapid recall without searching through disconnected files or software platforms.

Sambal - geo-referenced recording

Anomalies can be flagged immediately through AI classification or operator tagging. A built-in digital ruler measures distance, depth and angle, helping users quantify asset degradation and track changes with centimetre-level precision.

Sambal - Actionable data

Data is organized across projects, sites, assets and years to support repeated-survey comparisons and long-term condition monitoring at scale. Even under low-bandwidth conditions, the portal transfers inspection data for near-real-time review and produces consistent, ready-to-share reports in PDF, spreadsheet and presentation formats.
