A global energy provider with operations across power generation, renewable energy, and integrated energy solutions has contracted technology firm BeeX to execute underwater inspections of a floating solar farm located in a low-visibility reservoir.
Inspecting infrastructure in murky reservoir waters presents significant environmental challenges, as poor visibility typically hinders standard asset monitoring. Seeking a solution capable of gathering robust data under difficult environmental conditions, the client engaged BeeX to verify the autonomous inspection capabilities of its technology in 3D mapping and visual data collection.
Launched directly from the energy company’s boat, the BeeX autonomous inspection drone, A.IKANBILIS, successfully navigated the underwater environment. The drone obtained underwater visual footage of critical infrastructure, including the solar farm’s floats, mooring lines, inverter support piles, and submerged power cables.
To facilitate comprehensive asset assessment, A.IKANBILIS generated a 3D point cloud visualization of the support piles and completed a bathymetric survey of the reservoir bed surrounding the farm. The high-quality underwater visuals and precise mapping data empower the client to thoroughly assess the structural condition, operational integrity, and long-term viability of its renewable energy asset.
