Volz Servos GmbH & Co. KG (Volz Servos) has received EN/AS 9100 aviation certification, confirming its design, production, and distribution of electromechanical actuators meets the quality and reliability standards required for aerospace and defense applications.
To achieve this certification and quality standard, Volz Servos identified and clarified all internal processes and specified responsibilities. The company also more than doubled its storage capacity to enhance traceability, and strengthened its risk management processes minimizing the risk of errors.
EN/AS 9100, based on ISO 9001, has additional strict aviation requirements. This means Volz Servos delivers high quality, delivery reliability, long-term product maintenance and production documentation, crucial for actuators in aerospace environment and safety-critical applications.
The certification ensures every component and step in Volz Servos’ manufacturing process is fully transparent and traceable. Aviation companies also require the EN 9100 certificate as a prerequisite for collaboration, so Volz Servos’ achievement aids its integration into existing supply chains, builds trust and reduces risks for companies and customers.
Phillipp Volz, CEO at Volz Servos, stated, “Since I started in 2010, it has been my defined goal for Volz to become a supplier for the manned aviation industry. With the certification we are now laying the foundation and are all extremely proud of that mutual achievement.
“Our customers know that we are certified to the highest possible standard and that we are audited annually. We are a transparent supplier, and the certification brings much more traceability to the products, the parts and all associated processes such as test reports, production documentation, etc. The overall quality standard is now much higher.”
Marco Wüstenberg, Head of Quality Management at Volz Servos, added, “The EN 9100 standard is an internationally recognized quality management standard for the aerospace industry and is equivalent to the AS 9100 standard commonly used in the USA.
“Many aerospace companies, such as our customer Beta Technologies, require the EN 9100 standard for collaboration. The certificate is not a one-time thing but obliges us to develop continuously. For our customers, this means that Volz remains at the cutting edge of technology and in all business processes – including future projects.”
EN/AS 9100 therefore marks Volz Servos’ commitment to continuous innovation and improvement.
