The Volz Servos DA 36-LP (Low Profile) actuator is designed to meet customer requirements for minimal installation space while maintaining the performance and durability of the larger DA 26 and DA 30 series actuators. This low-profile configuration combines a brushless DC motor and contactless, wear-free position sensor, delivering high reliability, long service life, and immunity to electromagnetic interference caused by brush sparking.
The housing is machined from saltwater-resistant aluminum, treated with a HART coating, and sealed to IP67 standards for protection against dust and water. It includes integrated brackets for both horizontal and vertical mounting and an 8-stage, ball-bearing-supported steel gear train with a drive shaft available in DIN spline or square configurations. The DA 36-LP can be supplied with a MIL-specified Glenair Superfly connector or an integrated cable with cable gland. Standard interfaces include PWM input with either galvanically isolated (opto-coupled) or single-ended CMOS connections, along with optional RS-422 or RS-485 serial communication. The RS-485 version transmits shaft position and diagnostic data such as supply voltage, current consumption, and internal temperature, with optional humidity sensing inside the actuator case.
