Vision4ce is a leading developer of rugged computing, image and video processing units for unmanned systems electro-optics in all domains – land, sea and air. Our hardware processing units and integrated software products provide detection, tracking and targeting capabilities for UAVs (unmanned aerial vehicles), drones, UGVs (unmanned ground vehicles) and a variety of other robotic platforms.
Our rugged computing products are highly customisable, allowing you to tailor a solution for any unmanned systems requirements in the harshest of environments.
GRIP Rugged Computing Solutions
High performance PC hardware for image and UAV video processing
Our rugged GRIP PCs, packaged within environmentally sealed enclosures and designed for harsh environments, provide high-performance image and UAV video processing for unmanned vehicles. Based around the latest Intel Core i7 CPUs, they also feature NVIDIA GPU options for high-spec graphics and GPGPU computing applications.
All units feature a 2.5″ SSD SATA hard drive, PCIE expansion capabilities and a variety of I/O options, and can be equipped with up to 16GB of RAM.
Rugged computers deployed in harsh environments require effective cooling of high performance electronics. Our GRIP PC’s utilise proven cooling methods to ensure high reliability, with options for conduction and convection cooling of the overall unit.
A low-cost desktop development unit is also available, functionally equivalent to the rugged GRIP units and ideal for applications testing and R&D.
GRIP Alpha – Natural convection cooled rugged PC
GRIP Delta – Forced air cooled rugged PC
GRIP Delta LP – Natural convection cooled rugged PC
Rugged UAV video processing and routing of multiple video sources
Our Video Processing and Distribution Unit (VPDU) provides low-latency video processing and routing of multiple video sources to multiple output displays, and is ideal for unmanned systems such as UAVs with different video payloads for targeting, detection and situational awareness.
Supporting up to 24 input sources, the VDPU features a modular architecture that can be tailored to particular combinations of input and output requirements, including PAL, NTSC, 3G/HD-SDI, YPbPr, STANAG, HDMI, RGB, VGA and GigE Vision.
The system combines an Intel 4th or 6th generation Intel Core i7 processor with an AMD GPU to drive up to 6 displays. A range of middleware libraries, based on our GRIP VMS software, are available to take advantage of the VPDU’s capabilities, including:
BIT
Low latency video capture and display
Video detection and tracking
Video compression, streaming and recording
Image fusion
Ballistic computation
Panoramic image formation.
We can undertake the development of a complete bespoke application for the VPDU – contact us for more information.

GRIP DVR
The GRIP DVR provides real-time H.264 compression of up to 4 analogue PAL/NTSC video channels at full D1 resolution. The rugged DVR features solid state storage capacity for more than 110 hours of H.264 compressed video, with options for additional storage and removable media. IP video server functionality is built in for network video streaming.
GRIP DVR-19
The GRIP DVR-19 is built into a 3U 19” rack mount chassis and incorporates a 7” touch screen LCD display for control and video review. It is capable of real-time H.264 compression and recording of up to 4 analog video channels at full D1 resolution and frame rate.
Standard solid state storage provides capacity for more than 110 hours of H.264 compressed video, and data can be backed up to external storage via USB 2.0.
GRIP MINI DVR
The GRIP Mini DVR is a compact commercial off the shelf (COTS) system providing real-time H.264 compression and recording of up to 4 analog video channels at full D1 resolution or one HD channel at full frame rate.
In addition to 110 hours of H.264 compressed video storage, the mini rugged DVR system features a “last 20 minute” event capture Near Visually Lossless (NVL) capability for high-quality evidential use. IP video server functionality is built in for network video streaming.
We offer a variety of both hardware and software video tracking solutions based on our DART (Detection and Acquisition, with Robust Tracking) software. We are hardware agnostic, but for a more “embedded solution” we have the CHARM family of hardware solution designs to efficiently run the software. The embedded ARM-based CHARM video tracking platform interfaces with UAV, drone and robotic sensors, providing standardised video interfaces such as PAL, NTSC, YPbPr and HD-SDI.
Our video tracker solutions detect, locate and follow multiple objects of interest in the video image, controlling servo pan and tilt and providing enhanced features such as centroid and edge measurement, feature based correlation algorithms, adaptive background removal, and robust clutter rejection.
GRIP View video management and image processing software suite
GRIP View is a comprehensive video management and image processing software suite for the control of unmanned electro-optical systems. It is divided into standard software modules that can be individually acquired and completely customised to provide a flexible and powerful solution for UAV, drone and unmanned vehicle EO requirements.
GRIP View’s Graphical User Interface can display multiple video streams in a highly configurable screen layout, featuring ancillary data presentation and semi-transparent video overlays for vital situational awareness. Operators can interact with a vehicle’s EO system using a combination of touchscreen, joystick and keyboard control. Support is provided for operation and low latency video distribution over an IP network.
GRIP View’s extensive capabilities include:
Graphical User Interfaces
System control
Video Target Detection and Tracking (DART)
Panoramic Display Formation
Video Compression and Recording (H.264 & M-JPEG)
Video Streaming (MPEG-TS, STANAG 4609, RTSP, DEF STAN 00-82)
