Videosoft Global highlights its ongoing collaboration with Marine AI to provide ultra-reliable low-bandwidth video streaming capabilities for autonomous and remote maritime operations. Read more >>
The partnership began during development of Marine AI’s first autonomous platform, Mayflower, and has continued through integration of Videosoft’s ultra-low bandwidth streaming technology into Marine AI’s latest autonomous systems.
Addressing Offshore Connectivity Challenges
Operating offshore presents a range of communication challenges, particularly where bandwidth is limited and satellite communications are expensive. Reliable video transmission is critical for situational awareness, remote control, and operational decision-making in remote maritime environments.
Videosoft’s advanced video compression and data streaming technology enables secure, real-time video delivery while supporting low-bandwidth operations across offshore communication networks, including satellite connections.
Integration with GuardianAI™ ORION
Videosoft’s streaming technology has been fully integrated into GuardianAI™ Inspect, part of Marine AI’s GuardianAI™ ORION autonomy control suite. The integration allows operators to manage video feeds for autonomous and remote operations within a unified command-and-control environment. The platform also supports deployment across multiple vessel and platform configurations.
Supporting Computer Vision & Inspection Operations
The technology also supports Computer Vision (CV) and inspection workflows across maritime operations. Video streams can be processed onboard the vessel, within the Remote Operations Centre (ROC), and during post-processing activities. This approach supports advanced inspection capabilities while maintaining low data transmission requirements for offshore deployments.
Demonstration at Oceanology International
The collaboration between Videosoft Global and Marine AI was demonstrated at Oceanology International, where live video feeds were streamed from the Oceanus 12 operating in Plymouth Sound alongside a live drone feed.
Using GuardianAI™ Inspect, operators monitored multiple camera streams simultaneously through the user interface, enabling real-time situational awareness across the operation.
The collaboration has contributed to improvements in video compression efficiency, stream stability, and vessel connectivity across multiple communication channels, including satellite networks.
Supporting Situational Awareness for Maritime Autonomy
The combination of Marine AI’s autonomy platform and Videosoft Global’s video compression and streaming technology supports autonomous and remote maritime operations across constrained communication environments.
The collaboration enables:
- Reliable real-time video transmission across constrained maritime networks
- Reduced satellite communication costs
- Improved operational visibility and safety
- Scalable video solutions for autonomous and remote operations
The collaborative effort reflects an ongoing focus on supporting situational awareness and operational visibility for autonomous and remote maritime operations.
