Hydrographic & Oceanographic Equipment for Unmanned & Autonomous Surface Vessels & Underwater Vehicles

AML Oceanographic is a leading designer and manufacturer of hydrographic and oceanographic equipment for unmanned and autonomous surface vessels and underwater vehicles.

With 50 years of experience, the company supplies customers on all seven continents, with a wide-ranging after-sales support network and calibration centers around the world.

AML is a pioneer in the development of field-swappable sensors, and is the inventor of the time-of-flight sound velocity sensors that are now used widely in multibeam sonar systems. Their product portfolio offers a wide variety of easily-installable options for UUV, AUV, ROV and USV platforms.

X2Change Sensors

The X2Change family is the market’s most extensive portfolio of hydrographic and oceanographic sensors for UUVs and USVs. Compatible with AML Oceanographic’s AML-1, AML-3, and AML-6 instruments, as well as Endura Loggers, they can also be integrated into OEM and third-party equipment.

All sensors are field-swappable with their own embedded calibration, and can be easily and directly installed onto the instrument end cap.

Hydrographic & Oceanographic Instrumentation

AML Instrumentation

Single-Sensor Probe

The AML-1 is a modular and versatile underwater data probe that can be fitted with any single sensor from the X2Change family, allowing it to be configured for a wide variety of applications.

Offering real-time data streaming via serial RS-232 or RS-485, it features a robust titanium housing that allows it to operate at depths of down to 6000 meters.

Multi-Sensor Profiler

The AML-3 is a highly versatile oceanographic instrument that can be fitted with any three sensors from the X2Change family. As some X2Change sensors are dual-parameter, this allows the AML-3 to directly measure up to four distinct parameters simultaneously.

The instrument is available in three variants – an entry-level system for real-time data streaming without battery or memory, a version with a Lithium-ion battery and onboard memory, and a premium option that offers both real-time streaming and data logging capabilities.

AML Oceanographic

Multi-Parameter Sonde

The AML-6 is a multi-parameter sonde that is designed to combine CTD data with other oceanographic parameters such as Dissolved Oxygen, pH, ORP, or Fluorometric data. It can be equipped with up to six sensors from the X2Change family, and can also be fitted with UV biofouling control to ensure enhanced data quality and reduced maintenance requirements.

Endura Loggers

AML’s Endura Loggers are connector-free and wirelessly charged instruments that have been designed specifically for demanding USV applications. With effectively unlimited endurance and enhanced mechanical reliability, these advanced profilers unlock new capabilities for uncrewed and autonomous hydrographic survey platforms.

Endura Loggers are available with three or six ports for field-swappable X2Change sensors.

UV Biofouling Control

AML Oceanographic’s advanced biofouling solutions are designed to protect underwater sensors and marine equipment, utilizing ultraviolet lamps to prolong the time between required maintenance without utilizing TBT or other harmful chemicals.

Street Lamp UV

Street Lamp UV is a highly efficient solution that is designed to be directly integrated with AML instrumentation, drawing just 1W of power at 12V. With a maximum depth rating of 500 meters, it ensures optimal biofouling control within a range of approximately 30 cm.

Cabled UV Biofouling

The Cabled UV system is intended for applications where all AML instrumentation sensor ports are occupied. It is available in both vertical and horizontal configurations, with minimal power draw and excellent anti-biofouling performance.
