AML Oceanographic’s X2Change family comprises a range of field-swappable hydrographic and oceanographic sensors for integration into unmanned underwater vehicle (UUV) and unmanned surface vessel (USV) systems.

The portfolio covers a broad selection of measurement parameters, with each sensor incorporating its own embedded calibration and allowing direct installation onto an instrument end cap.
Field-Swappable Sensor Technology
The X2Change portfolio is compatible with AML Oceanographic’s AML-1, AML-3, and AML-6 instruments, as well as Endura Loggers. The sensors can also be integrated into original equipment manufacturer (OEM) and third-party equipment.
Each X2Change sensor features embedded calibration and can be swapped in the field, with installation directly onto the instrument end cap.
Hydrographic and Oceanographic Measurement Capabilities
The X2Change family encompasses sensors for sound velocity, temperature, conductivity, pressure, dissolved oxygen, turbidity, and a range of optical measurement parameters.
Among the available configurations, the Sound Velocity & Temperature Sensor covers a sound velocity range of 1375 to 1625 m/s, with an accuracy of ±0.025 m/s, alongside temperature measurements from -5 to +45 °C with an accuracy of 0.01 °C. The sensor has a maximum operating depth of 6000 m.
For conductivity measurements, the High Accuracy Conductivity & Temperature Sensor covers 0 to 90 mS/cm and -5 to +45 °C, with respective accuracies of ±0.003 mS/cm and 0.002 °C. This sensor is also rated to a maximum depth of 6000 m.
The portfolio additionally includes optical measurement options covering colored dissolved organic matter (CDOM), Chlorophyll A&B with red- and blue-excitation configurations, crude oils, fluorescein, optical brighteners, phycocyanin, phycoerythrin (BGA), rhodamine, and tryptophan.
The Turbidity with Wiper Sensor provides a further measurement option, covering a range of 0 to 3000 NTU with an accuracy of ±2% of reading or 0.2 NTU, a resolution of 0.01 NTU, and a maximum operating depth of 200 m.
Maximum depth ratings vary across the X2Change portfolio, with selected sensors rated to 6000 m and other configurations rated to 2000 m or 200 m. The combination of field-swappable sensors and multiple measurement options allows the X2Change family to accommodate different hydrographic and oceanographic instrument configurations.
