German actuator manufacturer Volz Servos has collaborated with Spanish autonomous flight specialist Embention to create a streamlined integration for Uncrewed Aerial Vehicle (UAV) systems.
This partnership combines Volz’s robust, reliable actuators with Embention’s high-performance Veronte Autopilot, resulting in a solution for the UAV industry designed to meet the needs of integrators and operators working in challenging environments.
The integration is intended to ensure seamless coordination between critical components and actuation, even in difficult conditions. This pairing offers a high-performance foundation for UAV, eVTOL, logistics, surveillance, and inspection operations.
Volz CEO Phillip Volz stated, “We are really proud of our collaboration with Embention to integrate our servos into their autopilot system for uncrewed aircraft. Veronte and Volz are a perfect match: The growth of the UAV ecosystem is accelerating and components need to be high-performance, adaptable and resilient. This integration enables aerospace companies to push the limits of what is possible in uncrewed aviation.”
The system is designed to provide reliable control and feedback to support autonomous flight, offering smooth system integration across diverse UAV platforms with flexible configuration options to match specific mission needs.
Embention CBDO Javier Espuch said, “At Embention, we are committed to building reliable autopilots and flight controllers solutions for the UAV industry. Our collaboration with Volz strengthens this mission, combining their trusted actuation technology with our Veronte Autopilot to ensure the highest standards of safety, performance, and integration for mission-critical operations.”
Key technical advantages of the Veronte + Volz integration include a simplified RS485 architecture which ensures reliable data transmission with high immunity to electromagnetic interference, even over longer cable runs. Additionally, real-time telemetry and diagnostics are enhanced as the Veronte Autopilot receives real-time data from the Volz servos, facilitating ongoing system monitoring and proactive maintenance.
The system also offers flexible servo configuration via custom control messages to facilitate adaptation of the Veronte-Volz system to different aircraft types and mission profiles, including fixed-wing, VTOL, or hybrid platforms. For certified operations where continuity and safety are paramount, the system provides a robust foundation by combining redundant control systems and servos that are seamlessly integrated.
