Exail will provide Deep Ocean Search (DOS) with its Rovins 9-DVL navigation system and Gaps M7 acoustic positioning system, supporting DOS’ complex deep-sea ROV (Remotely Operated Vehicle) operations under demanding conditions.
The Rovins 9-DVL will be integrated into DOS’ XL Mariner work-class ROV enabling accurate navigation and reliable positioning in subsea missions up to 6,000 meters.
By combining the fiber-optic gyroscope technology by Exail with Nortek’s Doppler Velocity Log (DVL), Rovins 9-DVL ensures precise seabed-relative navigation in GNSS-denied environments. This reduces drift and maintains accurate velocity tracking, enhancing the efficiency and predictability of deep-sea operations.
Exail’s Gaps M7 USBL system enhances these capabilities, enabling fast deployment and long-range, omnidirectional tracking, even in difficult acoustic environments. Its pre-calibrated design provides continuous real-time positioning of underwater assets. This improves operational flexibility, reduces downtime, and aids control during challenging missions.
Deep-sea operations at extreme depths demand highly precise, reliable, and autonomous systems to ensure safety, efficiency, and uninterrupted mission performance, capabilities that Exail’s solutions provide.
Quentin Chiche, Regional Sales Manager at Exail, stated, “We are proud to support DOS in pushing the boundaries of deep-sea exploration. By delivering the accuracy and autonomy required in such environments, we help operators focus on their mission objectives with full confidence in their navigation and positioning systems.”
Sébastien Bougant, Ashore Manager at DOS, added, “These systems were chosen not only for their compact design and advanced capabilities but also for their proven track record in the marine industry. The combination of Rovins 9-DVL and Gaps M7 will allow us to achieve new levels of precision and reliability in the most demanding subsea missions.”
The collaboration between Exail and DOS underscores the critical role of reliable subsea technologies in supporting safe, efficient, and ambitious deep-sea missions.
By providing DOS with robust, field-tested solutions, Exail reinforces its position in advancing deep-sea exploration and ensuring successful operations in harsh marine conditions.
