Volz Servos GmbH & Co. KG has launched its new fully redundant DA 26-D actuator for applications with highest reliability demands. The redundant – two channel – design of the actuator allows continuous operation even if one of the two channels has failed. All major components such as the electric motors, control and communication electronics, and power supply are available twice (redundant). The position sensor features a three channel design (for 2 out of 3 voting). Additionally there are several sensors integrated to provide diagnostic information such as current consumption, supply voltage levels and temperature readings. All major components of the actuator are continuously diagnosed by the microcontrollers of the actuator and its health status can be read via the redundant RS485 interface.
Phillipp Volz, CEO of Volz Servos said, “Our customers have been demanding a redundant actuator solution to protect air vehicle and payload assets of their UAV’s.” Phillipp went on to say, “our DA26-D actuator provides an advanced redundant actuator solution that is not found in the market today.” Mark Juhrig, CTO of Volz Servos said, “we listened to our customers’ needs and have developed a solution that can be tailored to the application.” Mark went on to say, “the solution can be customized to the application to meet various control and monitoring strategies.”
