Hargrave Technologies demonstrates its custom gyroscopic testing rig, designed to replicate the radial and axial loads experienced by drone motors during flight and accelerate lifetime testing under controlled conditions.
In this video, Giuseppe, Head of Motors at Hargrave Technologies, explains how the rig uses two motors operating at their continuous performance levels, each fitted with a propeller and mounted on a bar that rotates in both directions through 360 degrees.
The testing process is designed to accelerate the application of forces experienced over a motor’s operational lifetime into just a few tens of hours. Depending on the validation objectives, motors are tested to a target lifetime to assess continued performance or run until failure to identify the location and cause of failure.
The results help Hargrave Technologies evaluate motor reliability, validate design changes and inform ongoing product development.
