RIEGL has expanded its range of miniaturized VUX-UAV LiDAR sensors with the introduction of the miniVUX-4UAV at INTERGEO 2026 in Munich, where the company exhibited at booth B6D046 in Hall B6.
For more than four decades, RIEGL has developed LiDAR technology for 3D data acquisition. The miniVUX-4UAV is an extremely lightweight laser scanner suited to reliable object detection in complex environments.
The sensor offers selectable laser pulse repetition rates of 100 kHz, 200 kHz, 300 kHz and 400 kHz. Within a 120-degree field of view, it can acquire up to 133,333 measurements per second on the ground at scan speeds of up to 150 scans per second. Its overall specifications include a field of view of up to 360 degrees and up to 200,000 measurements per second on the ground.
The miniVUX-4UAV features a more tightly focused laser beam with a footprint measuring 125 by 50 mm at a distance of 100 meters. According to RIEGL, this provides maximum spatial resolution together with improved accuracy of 12 mm and precision of 8 mm.
The sensor also incorporates RIEGL’s echo signal digitization and online waveform processing capabilities. Its multi-target capability allows a single laser pulse to provide echoes from up to five targets located at different ranges.
In combination with echo signal digitization and online waveform processing, these targets can be measured with high accuracy. RIEGL states that the resulting measurement data is well suited to applications including forestry, archaeology, cultural heritage documentation, corridor mapping and construction site monitoring.
The miniVUX-4UAV can be supplied as a stand-alone scanner for use in application-specific configurations. It is also available as a system solution with integrated cameras and an IMU/GNSS unit, including RIEGL RiLOC system solutions such as the RiLOC-E-25 and RiLOC-F.
