Blue Marble Geographics has launched Global Mapper 27, a significant update that integrates the GeoCalc geodetic library as a standard feature directly into the software, streamlining high-precision geospatial workflows.

The release is designed to enable more geospatial work to be completed within a single environment. By embedding this industry-standard library, the platform now allows professionals to perform highly accurate coordinate transformations, data validation, and spatial analysis without switching between separate tools. The move aims to reduce reliance on multiple tools while maintaining a consistent workflow from data preparation through to final delivery.
The update introduces several technical enhancements specifically targeting LiDAR and terrain data. New horizontal quality assurance tools have been implemented to improve flight path alignment and refine the accuracy of ground control points. To assist with industry compliance, the software now includes built-in ASPRS density measurement methods, ensuring that data deliveries meet evolving regulatory standards.
Jeffrey Hatzel, Senior Product Manager of Global Mapper, commented, “With Global Mapper 27, we focused on unifying the geospatial workflow, bringing industry-standard geodetic tools directly into the platform. Improvements to point cloud validation and terrain analysis expand capabilities across data preparation and analysis. This reflects the direction we are taking with Global Mapper, enabling teams to do more in one place and move from analysis to delivery without leaving their workflow.”

Automation features have also been expanded through guided breakline extraction. This intelligent functionality is designed to reduce the need for manual digitizing, accelerating the production of terrain models while maintaining structural consistency.
Interoperability remains a core focus of the release, with expanded format support designed to minimize data conversion steps. Key additions include E57 export capabilities, support for LAS 1.5 with GPS time offsets, and TFADS-O and GGF export options.
Global Mapper 27 is available now, with users able to upgrade or start a free trial via the Blue Marble Geographics website.
