Blue Marble Geographics has introduced a new Global Mapper® subscription designed to consolidate its previously separate desktop GIS applications, services, and administration into a unified offering.
Available in Essentials, Advanced, and Professional tiers, the new subscription provides practitioners with end-to-end capabilities suited to their roles. The Advanced and Professional tiers expand the core Global Mapper experience by incorporating Geographic Calculator® and MAPublisher®, allowing users to support a complete office workflow from processing raw data and performing complex datum transformations to producing reliable, field-ready maps.
The subscription includes more than eight new Global Mapper features available exclusively through the subscription, including LiDAR and point cloud capabilities, photogrammetry enhancements, and Artificial Intelligence (AI) tooling. It also introduces centralized administration through the new Blue Marble Hub, covering license management, seat assignments, software downloads, support, and training. Additional subscription benefits include continuous enhancements throughout the year, access to a comprehensive training library, and expert assistance from GIS technical specialists.
This consolidation builds upon the strategic combination of Blue Marble and Avenza Systems that was disclosed earlier in the year. The combined company aims to unite complementary geospatial technologies, simplifying the office side of geospatial workflows while advancing a broader vision of connecting desktop analysis with field execution through Avenza Maps®, Blue Marble’s flagship field app.
Patrick Stevenson, Chief Product Officer of Blue Marble Geographics, commented, “Consolidating the office workflow into one subscription and managing it through one administrative portal reduces the complexity of how practitioners access, manage, and use the tools they rely on. Our focus is on making those workflows simpler without sacrificing the precision or capability professionals depend on, and then extending that experience more seamlessly between the office and field.”
Jeremy Parker, CEO of Blue Marble Geographics, added, “Geospatial professionals increasingly work across environments, but the technology supporting them has often remained fragmented. Our strategy is to remove those boundaries by bringing together the capabilities, expertise, and products of Blue Marble and Avenza around a common vision. Global Mapper subscription is another step in that evolution, as we build a company and platform designed around the full scope of how our customers work.”
Current customers with active Maintenance & Support contracts will continue to receive support through their expiration dates, with pathways available to move to one of the new subscription tiers before their next renewal and access the additional capabilities.
Through the new Global Mapper offering and ongoing development of Avenza Maps, Blue Marble is continuing to invest in connecting geospatial workflows across the office and field. Forthcoming updates are expected to enhance data sharing across devices and environments.
