RIEGL LiDAR scanner wins award

RIEGL’s VUX-120 LiDAR sensor for UAVs (unmanned aerial vehicles) has been awarded the Wichmann Innovations Award in the hardware category. The award was presented at the 2021 INTERGEO conference.

The lightweight and versatile VUX-120 won the award thanks to its high-performance capabilities, efficiency, and ease of use. The scanner can be easily mounted to a variety of UAV platforms, including fixed-wing aircraft and unmanned helicopters. It features an innovative NFB (nadir/forward/backward) scan pattern that allows allows complex and vertical targets to be easily captured. With an extremely fast data acquisition rate, the sensor is ideally suited for high-point density, low-altitude corridor mapping applications such as power line, railway track or pipeline inspections.

A spokesperson for RIEGL commented: “RIEGL would like to thank Wichmann Verlag for this prestigious honor, and to thank the audience, all our partners and the whole RIEGL community for their worldwide support in voting for the RIEGL VUX-120.”
