Trillium Engineering has introduced two new configurations within its HD59 gimbal family, offering electro-optical and mid-wave infrared imaging capabilities at a lower acquisition cost for tactical Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS).
The new HD59-MVV-C and HD59-MLVV-C models are engineered to deliver more than a 30 percent improvement in system cost compared with traditional gimbaled Mid-Wave Infrared (MWIR) solutions. Developed around Long-Range Reconnaissance (LRR) requirements, both systems provide tracking and geolocation capabilities to assist operators in locating and following targets during Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) missions.
Both configurations weigh under 2 kg and feature an IP65 rating, with field-ready designs optimized for integration with mid-sized UAS platforms. The HD59-MVV-C integrates 26x zoom MWIR imaging, 180x zoom dual visible imaging, a laser rangefinder, and a laser pointer. The HD59-MLVV-C adds a 2x zoom Long-Wave Infrared (LWIR) channel to this baseline, with the LWIR channel also configurable to provide raw USB video.
Matt Carreon, Senior Vice President of Business Development at Trillium Engineering, commented, “Our customers made it clear they needed improved long‑range identification performance without the premium price tag that usually comes with MWIR. We designed the new HD59 configurations directly around that feedback, delivering MWIR capability at a budget‑friendly price.”
To simplify integration and reduce the time and effort required to field the systems, the new variants retain the established HD59 hardware and software architecture. Both configurations are also compatible with Trillium’s Intelligence Stack, which provides advanced software features.
