ASELSAN has showcased the detection and interception capabilities of its GÖKALP UAV Interception System at the company’s Oğulbey Technology Base in Ankara.
The demonstration involved the detection and destruction of a target drone in mid-air, highlighting the coordinated operation of the radar, command-and-control, and interceptor components.
Developed by ASELSAN, GÖKALP uses radar and electro-optical systems to detect threats and autonomously neutralize hostile Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs). Its vehicle-integrated design provides a mobile, cost-effective counter-UAV solution.
During the demonstration, ASELSAN’s AURA radar detected the target drone and transmitted real-time data to the GÖKALP E1 interceptor drone through the DRONEDEF system’s command-and-control software. GÖKALP E1 subsequently intercepted and destroyed the target using a direct-impact, or hit-to-kill, method.
DRONEDEF forms ASELSAN’s counter-drone layer within STEELDOME, Türkiye’s integrated, layered air defense architecture. The system brings together detection, command-and-control, and countermeasure capabilities to support a coordinated response to UAV threats.
The demonstration showcased the integrated operation of GÖKALP’s components and its interception capabilities under realistic conditions.
