H3 Dynamics‘ Aerocell Fuel Cells are lightweight hydrogen-electric power systems designed to overcome the endurance limitations of conventional battery-powered UAVs.
Purpose-built for commercial and defense drone applications, the PEM (proton exchange membrane) fuel cell technology enables significantly longer flight times while maintaining the low-noise operation and reliability demanded by mission-critical operations.
As UAV operators increasingly seek greater range, endurance, and payload capacity, hydrogen-electric propulsion is emerging as a compelling alternative to traditional lithium battery systems. Aerocell fuel cells leverage the high energy density of hydrogen to deliver up to five times longer endurance than battery-powered platforms, supporting extended beyond-visual-line-of-sight (BVLOS) missions and persistent aerial operations.
The Aerocell range includes models from 250W to 2kW, allowing integration into a wide variety of multirotor, VTOL, and fixed-wing UAV platforms. Engineered with a strong focus on power density and weight reduction, the systems provide an efficient source of electrical power while minimizing acoustic and thermal signatures. This makes them particularly attractive for ISR missions, tactical reconnaissance, border surveillance, infrastructure inspection, disaster response, and other applications where low detectability and extended flight duration are critical.
Beyond endurance gains, Aerocell systems enable operators to carry larger payloads or increase operational range without the penalties typically associated with larger battery packs. The technology supports remote field deployments and can be paired with H3 Dynamics’ broader hydrogen ecosystem, including storage, refueling, and propulsion solutions, creating a scalable pathway toward emissions-free UAV operations.
Drawing on more than 17 years of hydrogen-electric aviation development, H3 Dynamics has refined Aerocell fuel cells for real-world deployment across a diverse range of unmanned aircraft. The result is a highly efficient propulsion solution that helps unlock new operational capabilities for UAV manufacturers, integrators, and operators seeking longer flight endurance, greater mission flexibility, and reduced environmental impact.
