Cambridge Pixel has expanded its maritime radar compatibility, enabling Garmin marine radars to be used with its radar processing and tracking software.
The update introduces support for Garmin’s Fantom and GMR xHD series through the GSI 10 gateway device. Developed in response to a customer request for Garmin radar compatibility, the new interface enables Cambridge Pixel’s SPx Server software to generate high-quality tracks from radar video supplied by the supported Garmin equipment.
Maritime projects differ in their operational requirements, installation constraints and budgets. By supporting radar equipment from multiple manufacturers, Cambridge Pixel allows systems developers and integrators to select sensors appropriate to individual projects while maintaining a consistent approach to software development.
The expanded compatibility also provides additional equipment options for developers of autonomous and Uncrewed Surface Vessels (USVs) using Cambridge Pixel software. Supported Garmin marine radars can now be incorporated into these system designs, with connectivity established through the GSI 10 gateway.
Andrew Haylett, Principal Engineer at Cambridge Pixel, commented, “We are pleased to add Garmin, a well-known and trusted brand, to our list of supported radar manufacturers. Our customers now have even greater flexibility in choosing sensors for their projects.”
Cambridge Pixel has previously developed interfaces for more than 80 radar makes and models, experience that helped simplify the addition of Garmin compatibility. The new support extends the company’s existing range of radar interfaces, complementing its software capabilities in radar processing, target tracking, sensor integration and operator displays.
