Software engineering firm Cambridge Pixel will demonstrate its modular radar and sensor processing solutions for uncrewed surface vessels at the upcoming SMM maritime trade fair in Hamburg, Germany.
The company’s software technology provides functional components designed to lower development costs and accelerate project delivery for both commercial and military uncrewed and autonomous surface vessels. Capabilities include unlocking standard maritime radars for custom software integration, multi-sensor data fusion, target tracking, camera control, data recording, and navigation within GPS-denied environments.
At the core of the showcase is the SPx Server V2 software, which handles radar video processing, proximity detection, and tracking essential for collision avoidance and autonomous navigation. The software can be deployed as a Detection Server for plot extraction or expanded into a Tracking Server for multi-hypothesis target tracking. Output data regarding targets and obstacles can be transmitted directly to external autonomy or vessel control systems using standardized data formats such as ASTERIX, NMEA-0183, TAK, and SAPIENT.
Having supplied technology to uncrewed platform developers across North America, Europe, and Asia for over a decade, Cambridge Pixel has integrated its solutions with more than 80 different radar types without requiring additional hardware. The firm’s software components are currently utilized by integrators and organizations across 65 countries, including defense leaders like BAE Systems, Lockheed Martin, Thales, the British Royal Navy, and the US Navy.
The demonstration takes place from September 1 to 4 at SMM 2026, an international event expected to gather over 2,200 exhibitors and nearly 50,000 visitors. For the first time, this year’s trade fair will include the dedicated Maritime Security and Defence Expo, highlighting technologies for unmanned systems, cyber security, maritime surveillance, and critical infrastructure protection amid rising global geopolitical tensions.
