British marine technology company RAD Propulsion has launched a finance leasing programme for its RAD 40 electric outboard, with complete propulsion packages available from £995 per month.
The RAD 40 delivers 40kW of continuous power and is designed to provide near-silent, zero-emission propulsion. Intended for a range of vessels including RIBs, powerboats and other leisure and commercial craft, it is available with short and long shaft options.
Each finance lease covers a complete package configured for the individual vessel, including the RAD 40 electric outboard, battery, steering wheel, throttle, control units and cables.
Customers can choose terms of three, four or five years with fixed monthly payments. The £995 monthly figure is a starting price, subject to terms and conditions, with final pricing determined by the system configuration required for each vessel. Customers will own the drive system outright at the end of the term.
The announcement coincided with the Southampton International Boat Show, while the leasing programme provides another route for customers looking to adopt electric propulsion without a large upfront investment.
Chris Shepherd, Chief Commercial Officer at RAD, commented, “The Southampton International Boat Show is an important moment in the marine calendar, with the industry coming together to look at the latest technologies and consider what the future of boating looks like. With so much focus on innovation and the transition towards more sustainable propulsion, we felt the timing was right to announce our new RAD 40 leasing programme.”
Chris Shepherd, Chief Commercial Officer at RAD, added, “We know that the upfront cost of moving to electric propulsion can be a significant barrier for boat owners and operators, even when they are interested in making the switch. Leasing gives customers another route into electric propulsion, allowing them to access a complete system through a predictable monthly payment rather than a significant initial investment. Our aim is to make electric propulsion a realistic and accessible option for more boat owners and operators. The RAD 40 provides the performance and capability they need, while the leasing programme gives them greater flexibility in how they pay for the technology.”
RAD states that providing the propulsion system as an easy-to-install package is intended to simplify electrification for both existing and new boats and make the technology accessible to a wider range of users.
