RAD Autonomy Core is a modular marine autonomy system that enables vessel builders and operators to introduce remote and autonomous capabilities without the need for extensive platform redesign. Designed for straightforward integration, the solution securely connects propulsion, steering, navigation and other onboard systems to IP-based networks via satellite, cellular, Wi-Fi or mesh radio communications.
Engineered to support up to Degree 3 autonomy, RAD Autonomy Core provides full remote control of vessels with no crew onboard. The platform is propulsion-agnostic and can be integrated with both modern and legacy systems through standard gateways, creating a practical pathway to autonomy for a wide variety of commercial, government and defence vessels. The scalable design allows operators to begin with basic remote-control functionality and expand up to full autonomy as operational requirements evolve.
The system incorporates a dedicated communications layer that enables interoperability with third-party systems for enhanced situational awareness. Built-in fallback functionality ensures that operators can retain vessel control if external autonomy systems become unavailable, providing an additional layer of resilience and safety. In these situations, operators can also activate a "get me home" capability, allowing the vessel to safely return to a predefined location.
