Kraken Robotics Inc. has secured new orders totaling $11 million for its SeaPowerâ„¢ pressure tolerant batteries, designed for uncrewed underwater vehicles (UUVs).
SeaPower batteries are engineered to withstand extreme ocean pressures without the need for traditional pressure housings or oil compensation. Each modular battery is encased in a proprietary silicon polymer matrix that resists compression and endures pressures up to 660 Bar, equivalent to depths of 6,000 meters.
With high energy density and reliable performance, SeaPower enables UUVs to undertake extended and complex missions. These latest orders bring Kraken’s year-to-date total for new battery orders to $45 million, driven largely by UUVs for the defense sector.
Kraken is poised for continued expansion in the subsea power segment. The company is opening a new battery production facility in Nova Scotia, which will more than triple its manufacturing capacity. Additionally, Kraken is developing new battery form factors to support small and medium UUVs, with a planned release in late 2025.
