Kraken Robotics Inc. has secured $35 million in new product orders across maritime defense, offshore energy, and ocean science, bringing its combined year-to-date product orders with Covelya Group Limited to $327 million.
The orders reflect demand across defense and offshore energy markets, driven primarily by Kraken’s growing customer base for SeaPower subsea batteries and Synthetic Aperture Sonar (SAS) technology, alongside demand for Covelya’s navigation, positioning, and advanced sonar systems. The combined company’s products are integrated, or are being integrated, across a broad range of crewed and uncrewed platforms, including more than 30 AUV platforms worldwide.
Greg Reid, CEO of Kraken Robotics, “Our product portfolio forms the backbone of a wide range of platforms used across both defence and commercial applications and we expect it to represent over 75% of consolidated revenue in 2026. These include crewed platforms such as ships and submarines, as well as uncrewed systems including autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs), uncrewed surface vessels (USVs) and remotely operated vehicles (ROVs). Beyond vessel-based applications, our dual-use technologies are also deployed in unattended seafloor sensors.”
Defense sector activity spans several key solution areas, including increased demand for Sentinel Intruder Detection Sonar systems for port and harbour security across Europe and the Middle East. Kraken’s synthetic and multi-aperture sonar systems are also being integrated into AUVs across North America, the U.K., Europe, the Middle East, and Asia Pacific for mine countermeasures, ISR, and support for anti-submarine operations.
Other defense technologies highlighted by the company include KATFISH remotely operated towed vehicles, SeaPower high-energy-density subsea batteries, Sonardyne’s SPRINT-Nav navigation and positioning system, Vigilant forward-looking sonar for collision avoidance, and optical imaging payloads supporting subsea 3D modelling and target identification.
In the offshore energy sector, the combined company provides technologies supporting field development from initial discovery and surveying through construction, installation, inspection, repair and maintenance, monitoring, and decommissioning.
Sonardyne has been collaborating with major oil and gas producers in Brazil on On Demand Ocean Bottom Nodes for 4D seismic surveys, with qualification for commercial use beginning through a deployment at the Petrobras-operated Mero field in early 2026. The technology is expected to enter full commercial production in 2027.
Environmental baseline monitoring is also scheduled to begin during summer 2026 for the Northern Endurance Partnership at the U.K.’s first offshore carbon capture and storage site. Autonomous seabed monitoring landers will combine Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler technology, environmental sensing, passive seismic monitoring, and Sonardyne subsea communications and data-processing technologies to provide remotely collected monitoring data.
