Kraken Robotics has secured approximately $24 million in new orders from more than 10 customers across five countries, including three new defense clients.
The contracts cover a range of the company’s subsea technologies, specifically SeaPower batteries, KATFISH towed Synthetic Aperture Sonar (SAS), and standalone Kraken SAS units. This influx of orders follows the expansion of the company’s manufacturing footprint, with a new facility in Nova Scotia scheduled to begin battery production within the next month to increase overall capacity.
Among the notable defense developments is a new KATFISH sale to the Polish Navy for its ongoing minehunting program. The Polish Navy originally integrated the KATFISH system in 2020 for use on Kormoran II-class minehunting vessels, which are designed for mine countermeasure operations in challenging shallow water environments. This recent acquisition was facilitated through Thesta, Kraken’s partner in Poland, which was recently designated as an authorized reseller of the technology.
In addition to the towed systems, Kraken is providing SAS technology to several defense customers for integration into various autonomous underwater vehicle platforms.
Greg Reid, President and CEO of Kraken Robotics, commented, “SeaPower battery sales continue to be strong, with several new clients further diversifying our customer base in this area of the business. Manufacturing of our batteries in our new Nova Scotia facility is coming online in the next month, significantly expanding our production capacity. We are also pleased to share that we have sold a new KATFISH to the Polish Navy for their minehunting program and SAS to multiple defense customers for their autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) platforms.”
