IMSAR’s cutting-edge radar technology has enabled the CAMCOPTER S-100 to achieve high-resolution Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) capabilities, along with Ground Moving Target Indication (GMTI) detections and tracks, significantly enhancing the platform’s operational effectiveness.
In collaboration with Schiebel and robotics technology developer MDA Space, IMSAR’s NSP Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) was successfully demonstrated on the CAMCOPTER S-100 during a week-long intensive trial at the Foremost UAS Test Range in Western Canada.
The trial showcased the radar’s Ground and Maritime Moving Target Indication (GMTI and MMTI) capabilities, establishing IMSAR’s system as a pivotal component in the unmanned platform’s advanced surveillance portfolio.
The integration of IMSAR’s NSP radar system was completed ahead of schedule, with all radar electronics housed within the antenna pod. The system’s sophisticated software facilitates seamless mission planning, allowing operators to upload radar flight plans directly to the S-100 platform for efficient and precise operations.
During the trials, IMSAR’s radar demonstrated its advanced capabilities in both day and night operations, achieving detection ranges exceeding 100 nautical miles. Fully integrated with Wescam’s MX-8 EO/IR sensor, a GPS anti-jamming system, and an Automatic Identification System (AIS), the S-100 equipped with IMSAR’s radar completed a series of complex land and maritime tasks.
The system provided exceptional SAR imagery and GMTI detections, even under challenging weather conditions, underscoring IMSAR’s radar as a cornerstone technology for enhancing situational awareness and operational versatility.
IMSAR’s NSP radar system is designed to be lightweight, compact, and easy to integrate, offering advanced geospatial intelligence capabilities traditionally found on larger platforms. This democratization of radar technology enables unmanned systems like the CAMCOPTER S-100 to deliver actionable intelligence in real-time, regardless of weather conditions or lighting.
