The Velos POR is a variant of the V3 unmanned helicopter that enables payloads to be mounted above the aircraft’s rotor on the centre of gravity axis, allowing the helicopter’s balance and flight parameters to remain unaffected by the additional weight. With 360-degree and clear sky views for cameras and sensors, more complex operations are unlocked such as panoramic filming and detailed inspections that require cameras mounted to face both upwards and downwards.
The above-rotor mounting also allows a ballistic parachute system to be fixed to the aircraft, providing an additional layer of safety and protection for both the UAV and expensive payloads. The parachute is ejected in a fraction of a second and allows the helicopter to land with low speed and maximal impact area for significantly reduced damage.
