Leonardo DRS’ advanced sensing solutions are designed to give the warfighter a tactical advantage on the modern battlefield. Utilizing state-of-the-art electro-optical and infrared imaging technologies, and stabilization, the STAG range of stabilized gimbals provides small UAS with best-in-class Intelligence, Surveillance, Reconnaissance and Targeting (ISR&T) capabilities, ensuring superior situational awareness and decision-making.

The open-architecture design and common platform base allow for interoperability across multiple platforms and installations, and deliver the same precision pointing and controls across the entire product range. The STAG gimbals also support STANAG-compliant laser designation in both the STAG-5 and STAG-8 gimbal families.

STAG-5

SWaP-optimized ISR & targeting gimbals for Group 1-3 UAS

The STAG-5 family of two-axis stabilized gimbals is optimized for use on Group 1-3 UAS, supporting a wide variety of UAV’s and missions, including fixed wing, multirotor, helicopter, Common Launch Tube UAV and both ISR and targeting applications. Featuring highly stabilized, proven reliable performance in a low-SWaP form factor, powerful onboard HD image processing and an integrated GPS-aided INS for precise geopointing and geolocation. The family of gimbals includes six different off-the-shelf models covering day, day/night and day/night/targeting missions. The inherent modularity and flexibility of the STAG-5 design provides an easy path forward for the addition of new custom variants.

STAG-8

High-performance tactical gimbals for Group 2-3 UAS

The high-performance STAG-8 tactical gimbal family is a scaled up version of the successful STAG-5 modular design, providing superior performance in a modular SWaP-optimized and MOSA-oriented design directly applicable to Group 2-3 UAS. With best-in-class gyro stabilization, the product range offers a number of options, based around Leonardo DRS’ HexaBlu® cooled 6-micron MWIR camera core detector.

Leonardo DRS STAG8 tactical gimbals

Featuring an on-board edge computing module for advanced image processing, the STAG-8 family is capable of multi-mode target tracking, and utilizes an integrated GPS-aided INS for precise geolocation. The gimbals support Ethernet control and output dual HD-capable H.264 video streams with MISB metadata. The targeting version of the STAG-8 includes a STANAG 3733 50mJ Laser Target Designator.

Compact ISR & targeting gimbals for small tactical multirotor UAS

STAG4L SUAS Tactical Agile Gimbal

The STAG-4 gimbals are a family of best in-class highly stabilized imaging systems optimized for a variety of intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance and targeting missions requiring high performance in a SWaP optimized form factor.

Built on an open architecture MOSA platform, the STAG-4 family supports Ethernet control with STANAG 4586 compliance, multi mode target tracking and dual HD H.264 video streams with MISB metadata, delivering reliable ISR and targeting capability for small tactical UAS platforms.

Currently the smallest member of the STAG-4 family, the STAG4-L is designed for small tethered and untethered multirotor UAS supporting tactical ISR, counter mine operations and situational awareness missions.

The two-axis stabilized system provides precise pointing and tracking in a SWaP optimized form factor, integrating HD electro optical and LWIR imaging with onboard HD image processing and an integrated GPS/INS for accurate geopointing and geolocation.
