UAVOS Inc. has reported the successful completion of the ApusNeo HAPS aircraft’s first flight in European airspace, reaching an altitude of 14,500 metres (approximately 47,600 feet) during a continuous 28-hour mission.
The flight took place at Canarias Stratoport for HAPS & UAS, located within Fuerteventura Technology Park in Spain. UAVOS, the founding technology partner of Mira Aerospace, described the test as an important milestone in the development and operation of high-altitude platforms in Europe.
Equipped with an Earth observation payload comprising a high-resolution camera and optical and infrared sensors, the aircraft transmitted imagery and sensor data in real time. These capabilities enabled ship tracking and environmental monitoring, while the test flights also demonstrated the platform’s readiness to support missions focused on wildfire monitoring and environmental protection.
The tests additionally demonstrated successful coordination with ENAIRE, Spain’s air navigation manager. According to UAVOS, this confirmed the platform’s ability to operate safely within European airspace and provided a foundation for future wildfire response and protection missions in Spain and across Europe.
Aliaksei Stratsilatau, Founder and CEO of UAVOS, said, “The UAVOS team demonstrated its ability to prepare for and conduct complex high-altitude test flights while meeting aviation safety requirements and coordinating effectively with regulatory authorities. Successful coordination with aviation authorities is enabling the team to build valuable experience in integrating HAPS platforms into European airspace. This experience may provide a foundation for future tests and potential operational scenarios.”
