ATMOSPHERE has entered into a strategic partnership agreement with Jayesh Gayathri Engineering Technologies Pvt Ltd (JGET) to introduce its PLANET satellite communication terminals to India’s Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) market.
Effective September 1st, the partnership establishes JGET as ATMOSPHERE’s local partner for the region, combining JGET’s established presence in satellite communications service provision with ATMOSPHERE’s Iridium-based satellite communication technology. The agreement marks a key step in ATMOSPHERE’s international expansion strategy.
Because satellite connectivity for airborne applications remains tightly regulated in India, ATMOSPHERE and JGET are jointly pursuing Iridium authorization. The certification required to operate Iridium-based systems for airborne applications is currently under review with the Indian National Space Promotion and Authorisation Centre (IN-SPACe).
The companies demonstrated the technology to potential customers and industry professionals during the Drone International Expo in New Delhi, followed by additional field testing in Chennai. Demonstrations of the PLANET 9704, 9770, and 8888 models delivered strong network performance and verified reliable Iridium Certus connectivity across Indian territory.
The field trials also highlighted interest in ATMOSPHERE’s Iridium Positioning, Navigation & Timing (PNT) capability. Designed as a robust alternative to GPS, the system provides reliable positioning in environments subject to GNSS jamming and spoofing, addressing a growing focus on resilient navigation for defense and surveillance applications in India.
Initial inquiries generated at the expo and through subsequent discussions span agriculture, surveillance, and defense use cases. ATMOSPHERE and JGET are working to convert this early interest into several proof-of-concept projects before the end of the year.
Jean Marc Gaubert, Managing Director at ATMOSPHERE, stated, “At ATMOSPHERE we are open to collaborate with trustable partners anywhere in the world. This new partnership with JGET allows to address together the needs of Indian users with dependable and field proven solutions.”
As JGET continues to build out its role as ATMOSPHERE’s local partner in India, both organizations are positioning to scale their presence in one of the fastest-growing UAV markets in the world as regulatory authorization progresses.
