The PLANET 9770 PNT Terminal from ATMOSPHERE is a compact satellite communication and positioning unit developed for unmanned aircraft systems that combines Iridium Certus™ 100 connectivity with a resilient positioning capability based on Iridium Positioning, Navigation and Timing (PNT). The terminal delivers native IP communications with 88 kbps mobile-terminated and 22 kbps mobile-originated throughput, enabling beyond visual line of sight (BVLOS) communications, telemetry exchange and operational data transfer across the Iridium Low Earth Orbit satellite network. Its compact form factor, passive low-profile antenna and straightforward installation simplify integration into a wide variety of UAV platforms.
The terminal provides positioning through either conventional GNSS or Iridium PNT, allowing operators to maintain location awareness when GNSS signals are unavailable or compromised by interference. Built on Iridium's Low Earth Orbit constellation, the PNT service offers a robust alternative for missions conducted in contested electromagnetic environments where jamming or spoofing may affect satellite navigation. The solution has been evaluated during the Jammertest 2025 electronic warfare trials in Norway, where it continued providing positioning while GNSS signals were subjected to jamming and spoofing. Local interfaces include power, Ethernet and serial connectivity, while an integrated web-based PLANET application supports tracking, collaboration functions, telemetry management and weather uploads for a broad range of UAV mission requirements.
