SBG Systems has released Firmware 6.0 (v6.0.5585-stable), delivering significant improvements across navigation performance, Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) capabilities, and system integration for its Ekinox, Apogee, Quanta, and Navsight product lines.
The update introduces a reinforced navigation strategy designed for UAV applications. This includes a new Fixed-Wing UAV motion profile and full Air Data support covering airspeed and barometric altitude. In addition to GNSS, users can now integrate external generic position and velocity inputs from sensors such as cameras, LiDAR, or radar, enabling more resilient and flexible navigation architectures.
Firmware 6.0 also introduces next-generation sensor fusion algorithms aimed at improving accuracy and reliability. The release features a redesigned Attitude and Heading Reference Systems (AHRS) algorithm powered by external magnetometers, major improvements to the Vertical Gyro (VG) algorithm, and new motion profiles developed for heavy machinery and off-road vehicles.
Interoperability has also been expanded with full support for external magnetometers, including in-product calibration, and native compatibility with the Nucleus format from Nortek DVL. The alignment flag has been updated to more accurately reflect state convergence in non-RTK applications, and new CAN messages have been introduced, including GNSS heading baseline.
Firmware 6.0 also enables enhanced dead reckoning capabilities, providing the algorithm improvements and multi-sensor fusion required to maintain accurate navigation when GNSS signals are unavailable or degraded.
