Gremsy and Sierra BASE have successfully demonstrated a joint aerial solution designed to modernize bridge inspection and infrastructure mapping in South Korea.
The demonstration featured the integration of Gremsy’s Pixy LR gimbal and Sony LR1 camera technology onto Sierra BASE’s SIRIUS UAV platform. This technical pairing is engineered to provide stable, high-resolution imagery in complex environments where traditional inspection methods often face significant hurdles. Manual inspections typically require road closures and expensive equipment while posing safety risks to personnel, whereas this drone-based alternative aims to offer a faster and more efficient workflow.
The system allows operators to conduct high-precision visual inspections and capture detailed data in hard-to-reach areas, including locations with difficult access or weak GPS signals. By utilizing the flight performance of the SIRIUS UAV and the stabilization of the Pixy LR, the platform maintains data quality even in windy or challenging conditions. This capability is intended to reduce operational downtime and risks while increasing the overall quality of structural assessments.
Jimmy Lam – APAC Business Development Manager, said, “This collaboration is a significant step in our mission to provide smarter and safer infrastructure solutions. By combining the Pixy LR with the SIRIUS UAV, we offer a market-ready tool specifically designed to meet the stringent safety standards of the Korean infrastructure industry.”
The partnership reflects a strategic alignment between Sierra BASE, a recognized provider of robust UAV platforms in Korea, and Gremsy, a global manufacturer of AI-native camera modules and payload systems. Following the success of this demonstration, the Pixy LR and SIRIUS solution will move into active deployment. The companies also plan to expand their collaboration to include Gremsy’s flagship VIO payload, which will introduce advanced AI-imaging capabilities for more complex engineering projects.
As South Korea continues to modernize its national infrastructure, the integration of precision stabilization and reliable UAV hardware provides a scalable solution to maintain long-term structural integrity and safety.
