Gremsy USA and Swarm Defense Technologies have completed the integration of the ORUS L NDAA multi-sensor payload with the KIWI unmanned aerial platform, delivering advanced electro-optical and infrared imaging capabilities to a compact, United States-built drone.
The integration expands the options available to North American system integrators, government programs, and technology partners seeking compliant unmanned solutions for intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) and mission-critical operations. By combining the compact, modular architecture of the KIWI platform with the multi-sensor imaging capabilities of the ORUS L NDAA, the integrated solution provides enhanced day-and-night situational awareness for persistent monitoring, surveillance, and reconnaissance missions.
Developed by Swarm Defense Technologies, the KIWI platform is a Group 1 unmanned aircraft system designed and manufactured in the United States for scalable autonomous operations. The aircraft features a modular payload interface supporting electro-optical, infrared, and thermal sensors, and is built to operate within Swarm Defense Technologies’ broader software ecosystem for coordinated multi-aircraft missions.
Integrated onto the KIWI platform, Gremsy USA’s ORUS L NDAA provides a stabilized multi-sensor imaging suite combining a 4K electro-optical camera with 25x optical zoom, FLIR Boson 640 radiometric thermal imaging, and an integrated laser rangefinder. The payload features onboard processing that supports real-time object detection, target lock, and autonomous tracking directly at the edge. The system previously received industry recognition when it was selected as a Technology Highlight Payload by UST News in 2025.

For defense and government programs navigating stringent sourcing and compliance mandates, the integration combines a domestically produced unmanned airframe with Gremsy USA’s National Defense Authorization Act compliant imaging technology.
“We’re excited to see the successful integration of our Blue UAS-cleared ORUS L NDAA with Swarm Defense Technologies’ KIWI platform,” said Ryan Le, CEO of Gremsy USA. “It brings together advanced optical intelligence and autonomous swarm decision – making – the ‘new eyes and smarter brains’ of next-generation unmanned operations. By connecting what the system can see and understand with how it can autonomously coordinate and respond, this integration opens new possibilities for next-generation ISR missions.”
“The ORUS L NDAA is a great fit for KIWI because it adds advanced imaging and sensing capabilities without limiting the flexibility of the platform. Giving operators better visibility and actionable information directly from the aircraft expands the missions KIWI can support and strengthens the overall capability of our swarm,” stated Swarm Defense Technologies.
The collaboration supports Gremsy USA’s ongoing expansion in North America while demonstrating the adaptability of the ORUS L NDAA across emerging unmanned aircraft system architectures, delivering operational flexibility and situational awareness for demanding tactical applications.
