UAV Navigation-Grupo Oesía has successfully integrated its advanced autopilot system into NEWT21’s FOG Unmanned Surface Vessel (USV), enabling a successful demonstration of advanced autonomous navigation.
The integration significantly enhances the FOG USV platform, providing advanced autonomous functions that are designed to improve both safety and mission effectiveness in challenging marine environments. The FOG USV, which is also equipped with a modern gimbal, is now prepared for demanding surveillance missions at sea, even under challenging conditions.
The new control system empowers the USV to execute complex tasks independently. These capabilities include mothership approach protection, which is vital for preventing collisions during close maneuvers, and dynamic relative routes that automatically adjust the navigation plan based on the real-time position of the vessel hosting the Command and Control Station. Furthermore, the system incorporates health monitoring with fault tolerance, ensuring mission continuity even in the event of sensor failures.
Supported by satcom communications, the vessel successfully executed navigation plans with full autonomy during testing. This milestone reinforces the reliability and autonomy of the FOG USV in critical unmanned operations.
This achievement resulted from the close cooperation and joint effort between NEWT21 and UAV Navigation-Grupo Oesía, which enabled smooth system integration and fine-tuning without incident and in record time.
