Videosoft Global joined its partner Honeywell Aerospace Technologies for a unique in-flight test aboard the Honeywell 757 aircraft. This innovative demonstration showcased the capabilities of resilient Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) connectivity and ultra-low latency video streaming within a military operational framework.
The flight test highlighted Honeywell’s state-of-the-art military connectivity solutions, including the HSD-400 satellite communications system. Videosoft’s ultra-low latency video streaming technology was integrated into this setup, leveraging an L-band lease for real-time data transmission. The demonstration underscored the ability to achieve exceptional video quality and minimal latency, even in challenging environments prone to network interference.
Using a Videosoft Gateway, multiple cameras from across the aircraft were connected and integrated into the video streaming system. The video feed from the cockpit and other areas was transmitted over the L-band lease, processed through the gateway, and streamed back to a laptop onboard the aircraft. This double-hop process (up and down over the L-band lease) highlighted the efficiency of Videosoft’s video compression technology.
