In this video by uAvionix Corporation, Thomas Jimenez introduces skyAlert, a compact, wearable ADS-B receiver designed to enhance situational awareness for professional Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) pilots.
The video demonstrates how skyAlert uses dual-band ADS-B reception (978 and 1090 MHz) to monitor nearby cooperative aircraft, providing loud, recurring audible alerts when aircraft enter a user-defined safety zone. Operators can customize horizontal distance and altitude thresholds to suit their operational requirements.
Thomas also highlights skyAlert’s rugged, body-worn design, built-in GPS, rechargeable battery, and ability to receive traffic information directly without an internet connection. When paired with the free droneDAA app, a second crew member can monitor detected aircraft in real time, view airspace and weather information, access offline maps, and adjust alert settings.
Designed for applications including utility inspections, surveying, and public safety operations, skyAlert provides portable, hands-free traffic awareness to help UAS pilots remain aware of nearby cooperative aircraft while focusing on their missions.
