FibreWorks Composites designs and manufactures custom carbon fiber transit cases for defense and satellite communications applications, providing lightweight, rugged enclosures for transporting mission-critical communications equipment in demanding field environments.
The company’s carbon fiber cases are engineered to offer a lighter and stiffer alternative to traditional aluminum enclosures while being delivered as complete, finished systems ready to receive their payload. FibreWorks acts as an engineering partner and design authority throughout the case development process, translating functional requirements into production-ready designs.
Case configurations can incorporate rack-mount layouts, custom mounting patterns, payload-rated inner rails, tailored front and rear lid depths for protruding equipment, waterproof sealing, and field-replaceable wheels and handles. Engineering analysis can address thermal management, electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding, stiffness, straightness tolerances, and insert design, with external testing resources available where required.
FibreWorks designs its cases around MIL-STD-810 transport shock and vibration requirements, while early concept reviews allow customers to assess dimensions, construction methods, assembly and overall configuration before tooling is produced.
Engineering, tooling and finished-case production are integrated at the company’s facility in Mooresville, North Carolina. Its manufacturing capabilities support programs ranging from low-volume prototypes and pre-production builds through recurring weekly production. A high-rate press cure system enables case designs to be manufactured at rates of up to 50 units per day on a single piece of equipment and single shift.
Each program progresses through final design review, first article inspection and production case inspection before full-rate manufacturing. FibreWorks is AS9100 certified, DFARS compliant and a U.S. small business.
Finished cases are supplied as complete assemblies, incorporating hinges, latches, wheels, handles, rack hardware and pouches. Finish options include a matte, low-reflection carbon fiber surface for tactical applications.
