Apella Solutions’ Argus family provides transcoding systems that deliver secure, H264/H265 high-quality streaming over low-bandwidth networks for manned and unmanned platforms operating in demanding environments.
Designed for military, defense, and law enforcement applications that require reliable visual intelligence and consistent transcoding performance over constrained or satellite communication links.
Argus Product Line
Argus Professional
Argus Professional provides low-bandwidth, high-quality H264/H265 video and imagery optimized for transcoding over constrained and satellite links. It supports real-time visual intelligence for manned and unmanned platforms operating in bandwidth-limited environments and applies advanced compression, resilience, and visual fidelity for mission-critical use.
Argus Light
Argus Light provides efficient, high-quality H264/H26 video and imagery optimized for low-bandwidth and satellite communications. It is designed for lightweight and power-restricted platforms and maintains consistent transcoding performance where connectivity and SWaP constraints are significant.
Argus OEM

Argus OEM provides high-quality, low-bandwidth H264/H265 video and imagery optimized for satellite and constrained communication links. Supplied as board-level hardware, it supports embedded integration for manned and unmanned platforms.
Argus Software
The software-only version provides high-quality, low-bandwidth video and imagery optimized for satellite and constrained links. It installs directly onto customer hardware for flexible deployment without dedicated Argus electronics.
Capabilities
Argus Pro can transcode high-definition output from 2-4 connected cameras and stream both feeds simultaneously. The system can compress a combined input of approximately 30 Mbps into an output below 100 kbps, with user-selectable stream characteristics. Video streams and high-quality images are distributed using standard IP video formats and standard digital image formats.
The software is optimized for low power consumption and supports operation on an ultra-miniature hardware platform capable of dual-stream transcoding. It can also be deployed on suitable COTS Linux systems when additional compute resources are required.
Argus includes motion-based triggers for still-image capture within predefined areas of interest. It can compress output from any IP or USB camera to below 100 kbps and transmit high-quality imagery over IP links. The system reduces transmission and storage requirements, supports H.264 IP cameras and UVC 1.5 USB devices, and provides high-quality, ultra-low-bitrate IP video streams. A web interface with live video is included.
