Allient’s specialized range of high-torque drone motors is based on proven designs that have been deployed around the world in a variety of challenging environments. The high-efficiency motors feature robust bearing designs, and cooling that has been optimized for the high levels of thrust required by demanding UAV propulsion.
Unique lightweighting technology ensures that these motors offer excellent weight-to-strength ratios, with no weld joints or seams utilized in construction. Winding options are available from 3 to 12 strands, and the motors can be EMI shielded and ruggedized against a range of other environmental stressors.
Allient has also developed state-of-the-art electronic drive and control capabilities using both sensored and sensorless FOC (field-oriented control). These systems can provide intelligent diagnostics, including data on voltage, current, temperature, vibration, throttle-loss, and battery current. They can also be seamlessly connected to drone autopilots via a range of industry-standard interfaces and protocols including DroneCAN, Ardupilot, and Single Pair Ethernet (SPE).
Key specification ranges include:
- Outer diameter from 63 to 126 mm
- Weight from 130 to 815g
- Peak torque from 1.17 to 17.1 Nm
- Rated speed from 3800 to 10280 RPM
Allient’s drone motors can also be tailored to meet the specific requirements of UAV and robotics OEMs and system integrators. With quick design turnaround times, motors can be provided to fulfil challenging requirements for form factor, performance, SWaP-C budget, and environmental conditions.
Custom motor applications include:
- Space-grade & harsh environmental conditions
- Extremes of temperature from -70 to +200oC
- Weight optimization
- Integration into custom linear or rotary actuators
In partnership with Planck Aerosystems, Allient has developed a unique enclosure and deployment system that allows UAS to be deployed in harsh environments for mission-critical defense and security missions. Constructed from lightweight and highly durable FPH-T composite, it can be deployed on moving vehicles and vessels.
The system’s advanced software allows the drone to take off, provide surveillance, identify objects of interest, and autonomously return to the landing pad for secure storage until the next deployment.
