Maris-Tech has revealed the development of a next-generation drone gimbal camera designed to enhance intelligence gathering and situational awareness for unmanned aerial platforms.
The new payload will integrate a 4K day camera alongside a thermal imaging sensor to support real-time video streaming. By focusing on miniaturization, the system aims to meet the demanding Size, Weight, and Power (SWaP) requirements of modern defense Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) while maintaining high-performance edge analytics. This development leverages Maris-Tech’s existing AI and video processing platforms, which are currently deployed on thousands of drone systems globally.
The initiative is a direct response to demand from the company’s customer base of drone manufacturers and defense integrators who require integrated edge video capabilities within compact aerial frames. The resulting ruggedized camera is expected to provide a ready-to-deploy solution for mission-critical surveillance in diverse operational environments.
Israel Bar, Chief Executive Officer of Maris-Tech, commented, “We are seeing growing demand from drone manufacturers and defense integrators for compact payload solutions that combine advanced imaging, onboard processing, and AI-driven capabilities. This new development builds on the proven foundations of our video and AI platforms and reflects our strategy to provide customers with ruggedized, ready-to-deploy technologies designed for real-world operational environments.”
Maris-Tech, a specialist in AI-based edge video technology, expects to finalize the development of the new imaging system by the end of 2026. The completed product will feature onboard AI-powered analytics designed to process data directly at the edge, enabling data processing directly at the edge.
