Micro-Magic recently released the U5000, a high-performance tactical grade MEMS Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) designed to benchmark against the industry-standard Sensonor STIM320 series.
This domestically produced Inertial Measurement Unit achieves tactical-level accuracy while maintaining compatibility with existing systems in terms of exterior structure and electrical interfaces. It is positioned as a versatile solution for attitude perception and navigation within the industrial, aerospace, and unmanned systems sectors.
Technical specifications indicate that the U5000 delivers a gyroscope zero bias stability of ≤ 0.1°/h and an angle random walk of ≤ 0.1°/√h. The accelerometer zero bias instability is rated at ≤ 30μg. To ensure reliability in complex environments, the unit features full temperature compensation across a range of -40℃ to +80℃, with an operational support range extending to +85℃. The hardware supports a high bandwidth of ≥200Hz and is engineered with vibration and impact resistance to suit high-dynamic applications.
The physical design of the U5000 aligns with modern miniaturization trends, measuring 44.8×38.6×21.5mm and weighing approximately 52g. Its structurally reinforced package includes clear installation benchmarks and coordinate system definitions, which simplifies mechanical fixation and electrical connection during system integration.
For data communication, the device is equipped with RS232 and RS422 interfaces. It also includes dedicated TOV and PPS synchronization signal inputs to support external GNSS receivers for time synchronization and data fusion. The default output utilizes a 55AA frame format, allowing users to configure both the baud rate and output frequency to meet specific requirements.
The U5000 is primarily targeted at fields requiring high measurement stability, including satellite communication dynamic communication (SOTM), high-precision surveying and mapping, autonomous driving test platforms, and aviation navigation. By matching the performance parameters of the STIM series while enhancing interface flexibility and protocol openness, the product aims to provide a solution with greater configuration freedom.
According to Micro Magic, this launch signals the company’s capability to compete with international mainstream products, potentially driving cost optimization and technological progress in the high-end equipment and autonomous navigation industries.
