Embention has become the first company specializing in drone autopilots to achieve both APDOA (Alternative Procedures to Design Organization Approval) and POA (Production Organization Approval) certifications from the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA).
These dual certifications establish Embention as a trusted player in the development and production of certified, aviation-grade systems for drones and eVTOLs. The recognition consolidates Embention’s leadership in the drone and eVTOL industries by demonstrating the company’s ability to cover the complete lifecycle of aeronautical products, from certified design to certified production.
Under approval number EASA.AP537, the APDOA status officially authorizes the company to design aeronautical components in compliance with the rigorous ETSO (European Technical Standard Order) standards. This achievement marks the first time a company specialized in drone autopilots has earned such recognition, which was previously reserved for manned aviation. The certification represents a decisive step in setting new standards for the drone industry, enabling Embention to design systems that meet the highest technical requirements in civil aviation.
Following its APDOA approval, Embention obtained POA certification, making it the first EASA-authorized manufacturer of drone and eVTOL autopilots. This recognition guarantees that Embention not only designs but also produces its systems under strict aerospace-grade standards. The achievement ensures that the company’s products meet the most demanding requirements for safety, reliability, and consistency in manufacturing.
The achievement of both APDOA and POA is paving the way for the standardization and large-scale adoption of autonomous flight technologies.
