Triad Bi-Directional Amplifier for MIMO RadiosTriad RF Systems has introduced a new dual bi-directional amplifier that supports 2X2 MIMO radio applications. The TTRM2005D is a solid-state-power amplifier (SSPA) that operates at a frequency of 2200-2500 MHz and supports a variety of signal types from simple CW/FM signals to complex, highly modulated carriers such as 64 and 256QAM. Measuring 3.4 x 2.6 x 0.65 in. and weighing just 5 ounces, the compact and lightweight amplifier is ideal for both military and commercial UAVs (unmanned aerial vehicles) and other unmanned systems.

Designed around state-of-the-art LDMOS transistor technology, the TTRM2005D can achieve either highly linear power with low distortion, or peak power with extremely high efficiencies. Operational features include manual or automatic transmit (TX)/receive (RX) switching, temperature monitor output, over-temperature protection, and amplifier status output.

Other applications for the SSPA module include other military and commercial radio systems, software defined radios (SDR), and general purpose RF amplification. The TTRM2005D supports any signal type and modulation format, including 3 and 4G telecom, WLAN, OFDM, DVB, QAM, and CW/AM/FM technologies.

Specifications for each channel on the TTRM2005D dual bi-directional amplifier include:

  • Transmit signal gain of 25 dB
  • Receive signal gain of 12 dB
  • Receive signal noise figure of 2.5 dB
  • ~20W BPSK power (40W of total RF power)
