In this video, UAV Navigation-Grupo Oesía demonstrates the successful integration and validation of ATMOSPHERE’s Iridium® terminal into its VECTOR family of flight control computers.
Tested in real flight conditions, the integration provides low-latency, reliable communication and enables secure Beyond Visual Line-Of-Sight (BVLOS) operations worldwide.
The Iridium terminal is connected via RS-232 serial communication and delivers global, resilient, and secure connectivity for Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs). Flight tests confirmed that the system maintains a stable, uninterrupted data link, with telemetry performance comparable to traditional radio systems.
The integration supports fully autonomous flight while enabling two-way communication for mission updates and dynamic re-tasking, expanding the options available to UAV operators for BVLOS missions. It also enhances interoperability, allowing seamless integration with a wide range of communication infrastructures and mission profiles.
