In the Pearl River Delta, the home to the world's largest population of the Chinese white dolphins (Sousa Chinensis), an innovative method combining passive acoustic monitoring (PAM) and OceanAlpha's USV (Uncrewed Surface Vehicle) technologies has been adopted to protect these vulnerable marine lives.
OceanAlpha M40P USV towing the acoustic equipment recorded the sound emitted by the dolphin. The M40P USV is electricity driven, and it generates very little noise. So the dolphins won't be frightened, and the dolphins' sound signals recorded by the USV are clear and distinguishable.
