L42 Long-Endurance USV

The L42 long-endurance USV is a next-generation offshore survey platform designed for hydrographic surveys, geophysical surveys, offshore wind farm inspections, and pipeline route mapping. With 8 days of endurance, a range exceeding 1,500 km, and capacity for multiple sensors, the L42 delivers high-resolution ocean data while reducing operational risk, cost, and environmental impact. Its catamaran configuration supports sustained offshore operations with the stability and reliability required for continuous data acquisition.

The L42 is equipped with a redundant hybrid propulsion system comprising four independent electric outboard motors and two generators. Steering is managed through differential thrust, allowing full control even if a single motor fails. The vessel’s modular mission architecture supports dual moonpools, dual auto lifters, an SVP winch, a towing winch, and various mounting interfaces, enabling rapid integration of sensors such as MBES, SBP, SSS, USBL, and ADCP.

OceanAlpha’s in-house USV control system provides autonomous navigation, real-time situational awareness, and mission planning specifically developed for uncrewed surface operations, ensuring long-term reliability and performance.
